RepRap status

With all this art going on you might be wondering if the RepRap is getting any attention. It is! I’ve ran into quite a few problems since my last post… After accidentally bumping an end stop, the z axis went down too far. I didn’t stop it in time to prevent damage; so, afterwards theContinue reading “RepRap status”

Extrusion functional!

Last night was a happy day. I successfully heated up the extruder and created a little pile of plastic. I had already stayed up past my bed time an hour or so, so I wasn’t able to make the adjustments necessary for getting my first attempt at printing an object but… Yes! We are onContinue reading “Extrusion functional!”

RepRap Prusa Homing

Here is my printer homing for one of the first times. As you can see, the screw problem is fixed.  This was accomplished with a bit of disassembling. I’m waiting on a thermistor to ship to put into the heat block before putting on the extruder. I’ll need to disassemble it a bit to screwContinue reading “RepRap Prusa Homing”

Extruder

Check out the extruder.  It’s almost ready for the machine. My friend Ben generously assembled it and took these pictures. He will bring it to me on Tuesday. I found out part of the problem with the cartesian motion. The screw that fastens the left rod to the motor was rubbing up against the plasticContinue reading “Extruder”

RepRap Album

Click to see photos in my RepRap Album Photos of the RepRap from 7/24/13 Here is video of the motors not quite being effectual, but at least responding.

Quick update

Not too much time to spare.  I have worked on the RepRap for a couple days since my last update, but only had time to post about it to Facebook. The machine is built and mostly wired up, the motors are operable and receive commands. I just need to find a surface for it, relevelContinue reading “Quick update”

Almost there

I kind of roughly put everything where it would be if it were complete. There is still a bit to be done. I still need a spool and spool holder for my plastic. The end stops are not put in their locations yet, and the headers for the stepper motors do not seem to beContinue reading “Almost there”

Thermistor Installed

Is this done correctly? I don’t know! Here is the rest of the heatbed, covered as I presume I was supposed to do, with kapton tape. The wiki says to “degrease” it before printing, which is a process I’ll have to ask about in the IRC.

Assembled the Themistor

Kapton tape should arrive in a week so that I can attach it to the heatbed. As far as the problems I was having earlier.  I addressed them mostly by cutting off a bit of the sleeve on the thermistor, this made getting the wires around each other easier.  I was able then to slideContinue reading “Assembled the Themistor”
